Thank you

Week 6 27/3 – 3/3

Thank you to all parents who attended the parent information evening. It was a great chance for parents to meet their child’s teacher. Each teacher has provided their email on the overview. It would be greatly appreciated if you could send a test email to your teacher. This allows the teachers to add you to their contacts.

Our Lady of the Rosary Primary School, Kellyville will be holding their OPEN DAY on Tuesday 7 March commencing with a Liturgy at 9.15am followed by open classrooms (existing families are invited to come into the classrooms) and a school tour for new families enrolling. The morning will conclude by 10.45am. The children will be participating in a  literacy lesson and parents are welcome to come and assist them with their activity.

OLOR IS NUT FREE: We have an increasing number of children in our school who suffer from an anaphylaxis reaction to certain foods etc. but in particular, nuts. To assist in our duty of care for these children, direct nut products or products that list nuts as an actual ingredient, eg. peanut butter and nutella, are not permitted at Our Lady of the Rosary School. Additionally, we will continue to ask that children not to share their food.

“Class Parent Representative”. This voluntary role assists the grade, community and the teacher. We had a form at the Information Evening. Thank you to those who volunteered. We can only have two representatives. Mrs Stockey and Mr Devlin will announce the 2017 representatives.

Dance Fever: Year One will begin their Dance Fever lesson first on Friday mornings. If your child is late to school, please walk to the office and collect a late note. We then ask you to walk them to the hall.

Getting to know your child chat: These chats will begin this week for those parents who allocated a time on the information night to meet their teacher. You have been allocated 10 mins. We will have to be strict with this time, as we need to keep to our schedule.

Homework: This week we will send home the children’s Mathletics log in. We have also decided to include a log in for Studyladder. Study ladder is an optional task, after reading, sight words and mathletics have been completed.

Afternoon Pick up: Most of our parent wait at the silver seats and we thank you for following our safety rules!! We ask parents not to walk to the classrooms to collect their child, rather wait at the silver seats. THIS IS BECOMING A SAFETY ISSUE FOR DISMISSAL for both the year one children and the kindergarten class in our block. Please don’t wait at the seat outside the kindergarten classroom in the Year One block, as it is distracting them inside the room. We also kindly ask parents not wait directly outside the hall on the concrete as this is where the carpark children gather, we suggest waiting on the grass.

Important Dates:

Shrove Tuesday: Tuesday 28th February:

Ash Wednesday – Mass & Liturgy 9.15am Wednesday, 1st March (Year One children will be involved in a liturgy in the classrooms. This is only for the children.)

Holiday Reading Packs

If your child received a holiday reading pack at the end of Kindergarten, we ask that it be returned this week. Mrs Walter will be sending home invoices to parents next week to cover the cost of these missing readers. The cost to replace the books are $30.00 if unreturned.

Thank you for your assistance.

Parent Information Evening

At the parent information evening tomorrow we will have a Term 1 Overview for each parent. Please collect the overview with your child’s name on it. The parents who are unable to attend will receive it in their child’s bag on Friday.

Each class will have a timetable for parents to select a time if they wish to meet their child’s teacher, if they have not done so yet. Meeting will take place next week. The purpose of these chat-times are to communicate to the teacher any information relevant to your child. Please note, this is not a progress interview rather parents are informing the teachers about their child.

If any parents are viewing this tonight, could you kindly pass this along to other parents who may not be a subscriber to the blog.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow,

Year One Teachers

Monday and Tuesday ONLY before school this week, the Year One students will NOT be playing in the infants playground. This is due to the new Kindergarten students arriving with their parents. As you can imagine it is overwhelming for both parents and students and they will need their own area for the first two days to settle in.

Year One students will be playing on the grass near the school office. A teacher will be on duty to supervise the students.

Week Three 6/2 – 10/2

Lost Property

Sr. Antoinette works tirelessly collecting and distributing lost property. She has asked all parents to ensure that every article of clothing is marked with their child’s name as well as lunch boxes, drink bottles also. As part of our PBS4L, the children are being asked to care for theirs and others’ belongings. Labelled items will enable the children to find any items they have misplaced.

Thankyou in advance.

Canteen

We ask that you refer to the newsletter sent home this week regarding online recess and lunch orders as the canteen no longer operates during the day.
