Friday: Excursion

3 sleeps to go!!! Below is all the information you will need to know on the day.

The Year One excursion is this Friday 3rd November. Children are to arrive at school for the regular 8:45am bell. PLEASE ensure your child is on time, we will not be holding the buses up to wait for children as we need to keep to our schedule for the day. After the bell, the children will go to their classes with their teacher and parent helpers. We will mark the roll and inform the students of the group they have been allocated in.

We will be travelling to and from the venue by bus. Children will be back in time for regular afternoon dismissal.

Children with medical needs, we will be taking their school medical kits with us.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Small backpack (labelled with name)
  • fruit break, morning tea, lunch, drink bottle with water, raincoat (if needed)

Please do not send in any money as there will be no opportunity for students to purchase anything.

Children are to wear their school sports uniform with their school hat. If your child doesn’t have a school hat please send them to school with an appropriate hat to wear on the day. We recommend applying sunscreen in the morning.

Thank you to all the parents who offered to come, the response was OVERWHELMING! If we could take you all we would. Notification was sent home today to all parents who volunteered. All year one class placed the names in a bucket (once checking all WWCC were up to date) and we drew the names out in front of the children this afternoon. Once again, thank you for your ongoing support.  We could not do this without you.

If you are one of the parent helpers attending the excursion please make sure you are at the briefing in 1W at 8:15AM on Friday morning.  We will be going through the proceedings of the day and the groupings of the children.  We are very appreciative of your help and realise the day couldn’t go ahead without you. A reminder that younger siblings are unable to attend the excursion.

We will be taking photos on the day and will post them on the blog for all parents to view.

Term 4, Week 4

PBS4LBe in the right place at the right time is the next PBS4L focus the students will be revising. Our priority is to ensure students are safe at all times. We are re teaching the school’s expectation of the students staying on their playground so they are being supervised at all times.

GARDEN CLUB –  Do you love vegetables as much as OLOR does??

Garden club have been working extra hard over term 3 and we are excited to announce that our gardens are overflowing with delicious healthy vegetables. Mrs Harvey and garden club have begun their weekly vegetable raffle. Fifty cents per ticket, and all proceeds go directly back into our gardens. In the upcoming weeks we will have potatoes….purple or white, carrots, spinach, lettuce, lots of herbs, and whatever else springs to life. The raffle will be drawn every Wednesday morning at assembly and tickets can be purchased on the netball court at recess and lunch. Buddy Bench

As part of our ongoing PBS4L teaching and learning, we are currently focusing as a school community on ‘Including others’.

OLOR Introduces the Buddy Bench!

At OLOR we include others in our play at break times. Helping each other feel included shows empathy and can help us all get along better.

We want students to think about how:

  • We can include others in our games at break times
  • We can play cooperatively and fairly in our games
  • We can use the Buddy Bench to signal we’d like to be included

Reminder

Excursion notes are due tomorrow, Friday 27th October. There are only a few that we are yet to receive, please include these in your child’s bag for tomorrow even if they are unable to attend.

Thank you for your assistance.
