*Week 3 Topic Talk*

The topic talk for Week 3 has been altered to accomodate for parents who don’t have stories from their grandparents.

Week 3 — Family Story

Tell the class about an old family story that has been passed down from your grandparents to your parents.

Alternatively, children can talk about a childhood memory of their parents from when they were growing up e.g. how school life was different to nowadays.

(Presented in week 4)

Term 3, Week 1

Welcome back to Term 3, it is hard to believe we are already halfway through Year One. We hope everyone has had a restful time during the holidays and are ready to get back into learning.

  • Please take note of the reading groups tab above for any changes to your child’s guided reading day. Their reader will be sent home this week on the day they read with the teacher. For example if they listed for Thursday, they will receive their reader this coming Thursday. Monday’s group will have a reading session at some stage during week 1.
  • Topic Talks will resume again this term. We strongly encourage all students to participate as it part of the Year One Speaking and Listening Program. The opportunity when they are younger to speak in front of their class will assist them in years to come. A print out will be sent home week one and the topics are also on the tab above. The topic talks that will be presented in week 4 is being assessed and all students must complete this.
  • Holiday Reading Packs from Mrs Walter are to be sent back to school during the first week.
  • As part of our History unit we are learning about Past and Present Family Life. We would appreciate if students could bring in a photo of their family. Please make sure it is a scanned printed photo not the original as we will be making a display in the classroom.

RELIGION HOMEWORK TASK:

Students are to research their own Baptism by interviewing their parents, Godparents or family, asking the following questions:

  • What is the date of my Baptism?
  • What are the names of my parents, family members and Godparents?
  • Where was I baptised?
  • What is the name of the priest who baptised me?

Students collect photographs and mementos from their Baptism and view or take a photo of their Baptism certificate. Students write about their Baptism or a Baptism they have attended after talking to their family.

Students who have not attended a Baptism are to write about this video:
